Larry Graves was born on March 10, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Leon and Clara Bell Graves. He was one of six children: Betty (Sam), Veronica (Tommy), Rochelle, Rodney (deceased) and Leon (deceased).
He attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Hughes High School in 1976. Larry grew up and lived in Walnut Hills on the same street, in the same house, all of his life. He passionately became known as “Maddog” on the streets of Avondale and Walnut Hills.
From the time he graduated high school, he was employed by Norfolk Railroad Systems and divided his time between his home in Cincinnati and in West Virginia. He worked there for many years and retired in the 1990s. After retirement, he remained in Cincinnati fulltime and enjoyed minimal work as an efficient handy man.
Larry loved sports, especially football and basketball. He also enjoyed food, jokes and laughter. Most in life, he loved his children and grandchildren and took pride in their growth and accomplishments in life. Most significantly, he will be missed as a trusted and loving friend to many.
Larry is survived by: his lifelong companion and wife, Carrie (Willoughby); his four children, Marvina Nicole Craig, Lawrence Darnell Craig (Tooshana/LaShonna), Lance Donate Willoughby, Regina Elaine Wilkerson, and one stepdaughter, Deborah Chonate Heard (Tavares). Also, Larry leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
