Nardo Evans, Jr. (known to many as “Buzzy”) was born on March 30,1939 in Cincinnati, OH. He was the second child of three born to the union of Nardo Evans, Sr. and Vivian Evans.
He attended the Public Schools of Cincinnati, OH; attending Samuel Ach before graduating from Withrow High School in 1958.
Unbeknownst to his family, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1958. He served four years and was stationed for a period of time in Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis and Bay of Pigs, as well as Vietnam after being called back into service for an additional 2 years.
After leaving the Navy, he went to work for General Electric, before going to work at Ford Motor Company in 1974. He retired from Ford in 2007 after 33 years of service.
In 1967, he was united in marriage to Doris L. McReynolds. This union produced two children, Gregory Keith and Carmen Lynne. It lasted 25 years, until Doris’ death in 1992.
He was a Blue House Master Mason in good standing Pride of Solomon 60, the Scottish Rite Sublime Prince, King Solomon’s Consistory #20, a Noble of Sinai Temple #59, and former President of the Mounted Patrol.
He then entered into a new relationship with Maurie McGhee and began a new chapter in his life that would last for 24 years, until his final day.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris L. Evans; his sister, Mary Louise Evans; parents, Nardo Evans, Sr. and Vivian Evans.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son Gregory Keith Evans; daughter, Carmen Lynne Evans; sister, Marva Lewis and her son (nephew) Sean Lewis; his partner, Maurie McGhee and her family, whom he viewed as an extension his own, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
