Richard Sleet was born October 28, 1919 in Beaver Lick, Kentucky to Alice and Estill Sleet; brother to Emma S. Wallace, Sara Wright, Lula James, Mattie P. Stephens and Alice Jones.
He completed high school in Covington, Kentucky. Richard’s occupations were as a Truck Driver for a hardware company, Chauffeur and an Independent Truck Driver.
Richard was married to Mildred (Bozeman) Hurt on October 27, 1978, in which they enjoyed traveling together in the Far Eastern Countries and Europe.
Richard joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church on February 20, 1977 and was ordained as a Deacon and was the oldest serving Deacon in both tenure and age. He also maintained the lawn for the church and was in charge of setting up Communion and Baptisms.
On November 12, 2014, Deacon Richard Sleet departed this life. He leaves his nieces and nephew, other relatives and friends, and the Mt. Zion members.
Richard enjoyed baseball, fellowship with other Deacons, family reunions and raising vegetables.
