Dad and I used to enjoy coffee with Smitty at the Tri County Starbucks. We loved talking about the Bengals. He was a big part of our coffee fellowship, and we will miss him.

My condolences to the family. I met "Smitty" at Tri County Mall several years ago. We walked the mall. Smitty would walk faster and more times around the mall. Eventually, a group of regular walkers started having coffee at Starbucks in the mall. We even moved to the Starbucks when it moved across from the mall. We stopped at Starbucks so often that Starbucks reserved a table for us on Thursday's. I moved in 2017 but my friendship with Smitty and Vernita continued. Smitty will surely be missed by his Starbucks walking family. May the peace that passed all understanding be with you. Fern Berry

Smitty was the first mall walker at Tri-County Mall that I met 9 years ago. He and his friend Anthony saw me walking alone and stopped me, introduced themselves and invited me to join them. Smitty knew most Mall staff and walkers like me. What a gentleman. I can’t remember him being negative about anyone. He walked ten times more steps than the rest of us including his tours of Liberty, Kenwood and occasionally Cincinnati Malls. We will miss this gentle, caring man who never complained about his serious medical issues.
