Preston Parnell Sr., a life-long resident of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Thursday April 23, 2020 at the age of 76 years.
Preston was the eldest of seven children born to Hattie Rose Miller (Pitts) on February 28, 1944 in Birmingham, Alabama. He was raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and graduated from Hughes Ebening High School in 1963.
Preston worked for Fischer Body, Cincinnati Public Schools, and for the better part of his career, the United States Postal Service as a mail handler in the package re-wrap department. He was a “people person”; encouraging, outgoing, and always the center of the party. He enjoyed technology and was known for his love of gadgets and music. His sharp tongue and witty sense of humor will be deeply missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his loving companion of 24 years Loretta Short; his four sons, Preston Jr (Dwanda), Kenneth, Darren (Natosha) and youngest son Reginald Brooks (Willa-mother); his siblings, Michael (Betty), Barbara (Albert) Pankey, Kimberly (Chauncy) Heath, and Clinton (Narkittia) Dobson; his sister in law, Bessie Brantley (Mack deceased) and his step father, Clinton L. Dobson Sr. Eight grandchildren: Nickeeta, Preston III, Foster, Sherman, Dominique, Jasmine, Jacob and Sarah; and four great-grandchildren: Jada, Jaylen, Brielle and Carter; his former wife and lifelong friend, Janie Nelson, and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones who will forever remember him in their hearts. Preston was preceded in death by his loving mother Hattie, brother Mack (Bessie) Brantley Jr, sister Beverly Todd and brother in law Phil Todd.
