Reflections of a Family Honored Life
Inez Pearson was born in Gastonburg, Al on June 15, 1925 to the late Mozell and Rachel Brown. Inez was the oldest daughter of 10 children.
Inez was educated in the Alabama school system but her pride was in family oriented occupations. Inez had some family who had relocated to Cincinnati, Oh who longed in anticipation for Inez to join them. Despite a blessed life in Alabama Inez understood the meaning of family and made her migration to Cincinnati, Oh to reunite with family and maintain a sense of familial connection. In the process of building her new life Inez met, fell in love and wed James Pearson, jr in 1948 and was a devoted and loving wife until his passing on March 27, 1989 – To this union were 6 children.
Her spiritual life was led by a Christian faith that she honored and maintained until her passing. She celebrated Christ at New Mission Missionary Baptist Church originally under the leadership of Rev. George Q. Brown and later under Rev. Robert Smith.
Inez was a modest woman but lived to celebrate holidays to the fullest especially Christmas. She took pride in having the biggest Christmas tree on the block and decorated her home for each celebration like a professional interior designer. She never missed cooking a Sunday dinner for her family and found much joy in the camaraderie of family gatherings.
Inez leaves to celebrate her memory: 5 children, Peter Pearson (Elaine), Sheliah Burress, Gregory Pearson, Kenny Pearson (Jennifer), and Henry Parkel, also 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters, Margaret (Rabbit) Boner, Gertrude (Putt) Pearson, Ethel (Et) Carter and Betty Love., and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She had 6 brothers proceeding her in passing: Lee Dale (Bruh) Brown, Mose (Snoot) Brown, Dave (Rooster) Brown, Joe (Sunny) Brown, Rev. George Q. Brown, Willie (Shug) Brown. She also has a son proceeding her in passing: Arliss “Parker” Parkel and 2 great-grandchildren.
